Dunhuang College of Northwest Normal University was established in June 2014. It is a full-time undergraduate-degree college attached to Northwest Normal University and was approved by the Gansu Provincial Education Department and jointly established by the Northwest Normal University and the Dunhuang Municipal People's Government. Relying on the high-quality discipline resources of Northwest Normal University and the cultural and artistic resources of Dunhuang, Dunhuang College focuses on the needs of national and local economic and social development. The higher education teaching and research work are carried out with the goal of specialization, internationalization, high-quality and high-end, closely combining Dunhuang cultural and artistic resources. Dunhuang College has established undergraduate majors such as Dunhuang Fine Arts Department (Chinese Painting, Oil Painting, Animation), Dance Art Department (Dance Performance), Tourism and Public Culture Department (Tourism Management) and recruits graduate students in Dunhuang Studies and Dunhuang Fine Art. The college is among the first group of excellent traditional Chinese cultural heritage base of the Ministry of Education and the excellent traditional Chinese cultural base of Gansu Province. It has established collaborative innovation center of Northwest Normal University, Dunhuang Studies Research Center and teaching center for Fine Art graduates and set up Dunhuang Sculpture Training Institute, Dunhuang Contemporary Art Museum, Dunhuang Mural Studio, Dunhuang Art Creation Center and more than ten Dunhuang Art Workshops. Dunhuang College of Northwest Normal University is enrolling students nationwide. The enrollment plan is included in the national general higher education unified recruitment plan, and accepts international students and visiting scholars from relevant majors.
